Heartbreaker, John's character in the book: The Enabler

Hey, Everybody:

Have you ever been an 'enabler' to someone?
This term's been around only a few years, so it never occurred to me that
an enabler is exactly what I was to Judy.

I colluded in her destructive addiction by supplying her with Ritalin.
I had to, otherwise she would have left me, and gotten it from another source (as she
subsequently did from Mickey Deans -who was in the business of supplying
substances).

But it wasn't till Janet Coleman -on a WBAI interview- suggested that this was the role
I fulfilled that I woke up to the realization.

Has anyone out there had a similar experience?
I'd be interested to hear about it.

John
